This lovely Indonesian creature is about 13 inches from the top of the head to the tip of the tail. They develop exceptionally strong bonds to their Human counterparts. They are easy to tame, teach to talk, and are quite gentle. If you have a cockatoo you will soon learn that they are the master and you are the slave. They demand attention. This is when they can get loud and vent their frustration when they don't get it. The frustration can lead to feather plucking and if the person the bird bonded to has to leave the bird behind or just abandons it, we have seen birds just give up on life and die for no other reason than what we suspect a broken heart. If you purchase a cockatoo you must be prepared to give a great deal of attention to it, more so than a normal parrot. Cockatoos are a lifetime commitment. Bare that in mind when you purchase one.
