This species is native of Australia, they are not well known in the United States. They have a gentle demeanor and are generally quiet. They are a bit larger than normal Parakeets being almost 16 inches from the top of the head to the tip of the tail. The tail itself is 8 inches long. Pictured here is the hen, the male has a bright yellow belly and chest with the same plumage on the wings as the hen. In fact if you look deeper into the picture in the background you can see the partial belly of the male. Below is a picture of the male.
