Red-bellies

This species is becoming more popular than ever. Once when first introduced they were found to be very shy and phobic. With hand raising the shyness has dissipated for the most part,  so much, in fact, that they are considered the best talkers of the species. Breeding pairs are dimorphic (meaning you can tell the difference between the male and female by the color). The one pictured here is male as you can see that the "Red (Orange) Belly" is quite bright. Females don't have the bright orange belly and you will notice that they have a lot of grey and green instead. They appear to enjoy hiding in a box if one is present, as they are still shy. This particular beauty is the most likely to talk of all the Poicephalus species and are well known for their easy to understand voice.
