These
African beauties are the smallest of the Poicephalus parrots and the
second most common of this species in captivity. They are very comical as
they have a habit of lying on ther back and playing with objects with their
feet. These and Senegals often mimic each other in habits and the only real
distinction is the color of the bird. The difference between the Senegal and
the Meyers is of course the color but the Meyer tends to be more exploritiory
and inquisitive. Meyers tend to be family orientated and can be very
charming. They are not prone to talking; when they do it is in a small voice
and very simple words. They do, however, become more accomplished whistlers.
They are considered one of the quietest of the species. Their movements will
sometines land them on the floor and have the observer rolling with
laughter. |
