English budgies look quite a bit different than the native Australian parakeets. They are much larger, have a large crested head, and get a funny sort of grandpa look to their faces (they sometimes appear a little grouchy) because the feathers grow over the eyes.  They come in a variety of stunning colors.  This one is a sky blue cinnamon. They have been bred over the years for these characteristics. They are often called exhibition budgerigars because they are the types of budgies seen in bird shows.They are extremely easy to tame so they do not have to be hand fed. In many cases, parent-raised babies make nicer pets because they tend to be less nippy. Hand feeding budgies can be a chore since they are like little piranhas grabbing for anything that resembles food (including your fingers!).When people refer to an "English" budgie they are generally talking about a budgie that is significantly bigger than the wild Australian budgerigar and with characteristics and features that were developed and enhanced specifically for show.   colors and markings. "English" budgies are generally less active and more prone to "American" budgies are much closer in size and features to the wild Australian budgerigar. They have streamline bodies, are very active, and are the type usually seen and sold in pet stores in the United States and Canada.
